Well……another problem with the Adobe’s latest bundle of joy…..

Captured some HDV clips in PP2 and when I chose “export to tape,” it activated the camera’s record button, but didn’t send any video to it. It rendered the files and activated the camera, but again, just a recorded blue screen. When I hooked up an old sony dv camera, no problems, it recorded the downconverted dv files no problem.

I have full control of the Z1U in Capture mode, so I know PP2 recognizes the device, but it is not listed in the camera pulldown in the device control menu, so I just chose ‘Sony’ and ‘standard’, but I can’t believe Adobe wouldn’t support Sony’s latest HDV camera………as we all know that Adobe loves Sony………any thoughts??

I’ll see if I can duplicate the issue…I don’t go back out to HDV so I hadn’t tried it.

It would be an unusual oversight…but stranger things have happened.

    Tim:

That would be great if you have that camera, or any HDV camera for that matter. I am stumped, and can’t beleive Adobe would overlook these cameras……..let me know and thanks.

Thanks for that….it also led me to other topics at the Adobe website that helped with various problems……but alas, no this did not solve the problem……..export works great with the old sonyn dv cam, but not with the ZU1, and obviously, that’s a big problem. Anyone out there with this camera and PP2, I would love you to try exporting to tape!!!

If you don’t have Aspect HD 4.0 (releasing tomorrow) you will probably have massive problems editing HDV. And there are a few cameras that work with Aspect HD that do not work with Premiere Pro alone.

OK, I think I might know what the problem is. Go to your [IN/OUT REC] menu and set VCR DV/HDV to HDV. If my guess is correct you currently have it set to Auto and I believe there is a problem with doing so. Let us know if this works. If not I will get the cam out and take another crack at it.
