  • Premiere Pro 1.5.1 AspectHD HD Component output problem

Posted by Stephen Brooks on August 31, 2005 at 3:06 am

When using the Premiere 1.5.1 HDV codec I can view on an external HD monitor connected with component cables from my Nvidia Quadro FX540. Using the Cineform RT codec I cannot. I have checked the Scrub Video To External Source box. Still nothing.

    Any ideas?

Just out of curiousity what was it? I just saw the question and I was going to fool around a bit on it…

I thought I solved it. But I didn’t. It seems that the CineForm RT codec just won’t output to any 2nd monitor; either VGA or HD Component. The regular HDV codec will.

Any help is appreciated. I’d like to have RT and HD!

    I’m curious…

Please describe the situation technically. I have an FX 540 as well.

The codec used in PPro 1.5.1 is also the CineForm codec, but as you know, without Aspect it’s slow.

Are you simply changing project settings to realize the problem?

Tim, do you use the Aspect HD codec (rather than 1.5.1) and do you get video out of your 540 card?

Well, technically it’s the same codec…the media should load into the Premiere HDV settings or the Aspect settings. Aspect does add the incresed RT mode and the effects, etc.

The system with the 540 system has Prospect on it at this moment, but the codec works essentially the same. I have used a 540 card with the Aspect project settings with no problems. Technically the picture should be there with ANY project settings…even DV should give you a (much lower res) picture on the external monitor.

Stephen’s issue is intriguing because of the picture being present in the PPro HDV settings, but not the Aspect settings.

…I’m wondering if an uninstall/reinstall of Aspect HD is necessary…

    Hi Tim:

Thanks for your curiosity. The problem is simple to repro:

If I use any of the HDV preset that comes witn 1.5.1 I see the image on my HD monitor.

If I use any of the Aspect HD presets I do not.

I’m going to try an uninstall and re-install of Aspect and will report back.

After an uninstall/reinstall of Aspect no change. I did a complete uninstall too, cleaned the registry etc.

When I use the HDV playback setting I can get to a dialog box that says playback on external monitor.

With the CineForm RT playback I don’t see that setting. I see a Scrub Video To External Source check box. Checking it does nothing. Am I missing a setting buried somewhere?

I have since found other sufferers out there who have similar problems to mine. There seems to be an issue with the FX540 and Aspect HD. No answers yet.

I have found out that the regular HDV codec and the CineForm RT codec do handle output to external sources differently.

I’m open to any crazy ideas.

Are there any other system similarities between the folks who have this issue?

I do communicate with CineForm and apparently they are aware of your problem and are working on it. I suspect they’ve not seen it as I have not to this point.

I’m wondering if there is some common configuration that has a conflict? I will attempt to do some repro here as well.

In the meantime, could you post your configuration (processor/RAM/brand of computer, etc, etc, etc)

    Thanks
