  Premiere Preview Lags Only When Video File Has Alpha Channel

  I’ve exported a Quicktime PNG file from After Effects with alpha channel intact. It’s a couple minutes long and the file is 700mb. Nothing too big for Premiere.

  When I import into Premiere, the preview playback lags a lot. I brought it into Premiere so I could synch up some narration and music, which I cannot do without proper playback.

  At first I though it was the large file. However, when I export the same video from After Effects WITHOUT an alpha channel, it plays back WITHOUT lag in Premiere!

  Any idea what could be causing this?
