Can anyone explain to me why Premiere is so incredibly bad at loading or playing back footage?

Every time I open Premiere, I have to wait 20 min…30min…for it to build previews or load the footage or something?

Every time I open Resolve, everything plays back ISNTANTLY and smoothly…

What’s the difference from a technical stand point? Why is premiere SO bad at basic functionality?

That is strange, it does also take me a bit of time to open but 20-30 minutes it shouldn’t have taken. I would ask if you have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, or scan for viruses that could be causing Premiere Pro to take so long to load the preview. And it may also depend on the specs but it seems your specs on your computer should be good if your DaVinci Resolve is able to load it quickly. It seems that DaVinci may have used less resources to run compared to Premiere Pro, it does consume a lot of RAM as well. I would say scan your computer to see if any background processes can be relating to Premiere Pro slowing down. Hope it helps.

Unless you add some info on computer specs, scratch disks and media locations, Premiere settings etc
it’s almost impossible for anyone to give you a remotely helpful answer.
