Premiere “offline” to “online” re-linking workflow
I’m fairly new to Premiere and haven’t quite figured out a good workflow for something that I did quite easily in FCP.
I have a large project with over 100 hours of DSLR footage. I started the project in FCP so all the footage has been converted to ProRes LT using MPEG Streamclip. I then used the ProRes LT files to sync the separate audio with Plural Eyes and export new ProRes LT files with embedded audio. The ProRes files are named the exact same thing as the original H264 files which I still have in a separate folder.
What I had planned to do (and could do) in FCP was complete my edit in Pro-Res LT and then as a very final step, I would make all the ProRes LT video footage offline and re-link it the the original H264 footage.
I know how to make all the footage offline, but when I re-link, Premiere asks me to find the first file so I point it the corresponding H264 file. Then Premiere “finds” all the remaining footage. The problem is what it actually finds is all the ProRes LT footage.
So I’m trying to find a way to complete this process. If I trashed the ProRes LT files, I suspect Premiere would then find the appropriate H264 files. However, I still need those ProRes LT files because they have the embedded audio from the separate recorder. Does anybody have a strategy or proven workflow for something like this?

you are best to “rename” the folder that the LT material is in temporarily….
ad an underscore or something…
that should force it all to look for the h264’s…
