    Hi people!

I’m new to FCP but have been editing in Premiere since 4.2. Is there any way I can use Premiere shortcuts keys in FCP? aside from manually reassigning them…i’m thinking in the line of a file ready to load in FCP…

    thanx in advance!

Don’t think anyone is giving that away for free or selling it, but that isn’t a bad idea.

Although creating and saving a new keyboard layout is pretty easy, it is monotonous. Folks might be willing to pay a little to ease their transition to a new application.

    Manually re-assign them:

    Option – H

In the window that opens, search for the command symbols in the upper right.

Click the modifier keys on the keyboard to look at all the short cuts that are already assigned.

Click the lock icon in the lower left.

Drag commands from the list on the right to the appropriate keys.

    When you are done reassigning:

Tools > Keyboard Layout > Save Keyboard Layout.

Final Cut will create a folder called Keyboard Layouts in:

Users > Library > Preferences > Final Cut Pro User Data

Name your keyboard layout “Premiere Pro” and click OK.

All that will be left to do then is host that file on your web site and come back here and to the Premier board and let everyone know you are sharing!

That would be cool. If you got a decent number of downloads, you might have stumbled onto a market. Create a file for every common editing app, set pricing, build a web page, and do some marketing.

    Good luck,

    Tom
