Premiere HD to SD DVD Best Quality Solution
I’ve seen many posts on here with people wondering why their HD footage looks so bad when you export to MPEG2 DVD. I recently wrote an article that goes into detail on this subject, and provides a workflow for achieving studio quality results using completely free utilities.
Dan Isaacs, who posts regularly on the Adobe user to user forums, came up with the workflow. I have written a complete tutorial on using his workflow and provide screenshots that compare quality. You can see the difference between using premiere to downscale, with and without the MRQ setting, and the method which uses 3rd party applications. For those of you who are interested in achieving the best quality down-conversions, I highly recommend reading it:

The sample images I provide do not contain any jpeg artifacts. All artifacts are caused by the mpeg encoding process.
I hope this article helps many of you struggling to achieve good quality down-conversions using Adobe Premiere. If any of you are wondering, Apple Final Cut software also suffers from the same poor quality issues with down-conversions.
