Premiere has problems with my AE animation
I have an After Effects animation that Premiere just doesn’t like. When I add it to my timeline Premiere will not export my sequence furthermore it makes the system shaky and unstable.
Here is the kicker, I’ve re-rendered the AE movie over and over again in different codecs to see if there was an issue there but it doesn’t seem to matter.
I can export the animation from AE in my Premiere sequence’s resolution so that premiere doesn’t have to render the clip or I can use a lossless codec from AE (i’m editing in DV 4:3) and let premiere render it out in the sequence’s codec and I still have the problem.
I’ve rebooted, deleted renderfiles and re-rendered. I’ve done everything short of dumping the animation off to tape and recapturing it which I really don’t want to do because I don’t have an SDI output on my system and don’t want to take a hit in quality.
I have the latest upgrades installed, I have a CS4 E5430 Xenon Quad Core processor with 3gigs of memory. My OS is XP with SP3.
Any suggestions?

It’s possible the AE project has an issue I suppose…
Can you make a new project? Maybe try importing the original project into it and rendering the comp that way.
I can’t believe that if the AE renders are causing a problem that dynamic linking the AE comp to the PPro timeline would be better, but it’s worth a shot in the name of science I suppose…
If that doesn’t work, you may want to try something from scratch in a fresh project…
You can make a new project and drop a render from that in place and it’s OK, right?

I’ve tried making new sequences, and new projects and every time I used that piece of AE animation or one of its many re-rendered versions I have problems.
It was a complicated AE project and it would take a lot of time to rebuild so I’d rather not have to redo the comp if possible.

What version of Quicktime do you have on your system? You may have to either update it or roll back a version. I have 7.5 on mine and that seems to have worked fine.

I am pretty sure my AE project was somehow corrupted but I found a work-around. I exported my animation as an uncompressed tiff sequence and re-imported the clip into a new AE project and rendered it out as a DV clip.
Premiere worked with the new clip just fine.
