  • Premiere hangs on showing ‘comparison shots’ during edits

    Hi there,

I have a problem. I recently built a new monster PC purely for editting in premiere. Now everything is blazing fast, except for one really annoying bug. During edits, especially if i trim videos, premiere temporarilly shows a side by side view of the footage in the program window. Whenever this happens, which happens a lot, it cannot play back and hangs for sometimes minutes on loading the main window again.

I know my explenation is pretty terrible, so I made a screenshot. Its an old project, but no matter how ‘heavy’ the footage or the effects are, the problem persists.

I hope anyone knows what could cause this, or even how the comparison is officially called so i can widen my search 🙂

    For some specs:
3TB HDD for footage and project files
    SSD for scratch disk
    SSD for program files/windows

    i7 5930k
    32gb ddr4
    gtx 980

    Thanks!

Try going to Timeline Display Settings (wrench icon in Timeline) and deselect Composite Preview During Trim.
