  • Premiere EDL for Final Cut?

Posted by Josh Johnson on October 4, 2005 at 1:15 pm

I have an hour long video cut in premiere. I need to pass the project off to a friend with Final Cut.

I thought I could just export an EDL but it looks like thats easier said than done.

How do you export an EDL?

All I can figure out how to do is Export the project as an AAF. It takes a really long time and gives me an xml file. Is this something that will work with Final Cut.

    I’m using Premiere Pro 7.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

If you’re using Premiere Pro 1.5 you select “Export Project as EDL” from the Project menu. then just choose which sequence you want exported and choose your tracks to export.

In version 7 I can’t seem to find an export to EDL setting. Only export as AAF.

If I am not mistaken, Premiere Pro 1.0 (or 7.0) did not have the export to EDL option available.

You could post a link to your prproj file on here and one of us could export it to an edl for you. Just post a link to the file and then where we can send you the edl.

    Thanks for the offer.
I might end up doing that but I’m not ready yet.
Why did adobe get rid of the edl option?
Do they offer some kind of alternative?
    AAF dosent work for me.
