  premiere doing weird things

  latest version of Premiere 9.1.0 CC2015

  Hello, I’m freelancing and the edit house’s Premiere has been exhibiting very strange behavior.

  First it was freezing and crashing all day, unresponsive. It seemed to do so mostly (but not always) after a render. I restarted, trashed the preferences, still the same behavior.

  Then I started getting weird editing behavior.

  1) When moving clips in the timeline, clips would not go to the track I wanted, always to a lower track. Sliding audio around in the timeline would push it to different tracks.

  2) I can’t drag effects onto clips or transitions. I drag the effect over, and then a little closed-hand with a line through it appears.

  I then installed the latest Premiere update, given all the negative El Capitan cow threads, still the same stuff happens.

  Can anyone help?
