Premiere CS6- how to monitor via BM Ultrastudio express?
Posted by Larry Wheeler on February 8, 2013 at 2:00 amForgive me. I am totally new on Premiere. How do you get Premiere to see your I/O, for monitoring, or capture? This is easy in AE, but nowhere to be found in Premiere. Help would be very much appreciated!

February 8, 2013 at 5:49 amI believe it’s Menu – Edit – Preferences – Playback – Video Devices. If you have the drivers installed, there should be a “Blackmagic Device” or something like that.

February 8, 2013 at 2:08 pmI thought so too, however, when I pull this up, no options for the UltraStudio show up. This is the same on the MacPro with a KONA3 in it as well. That machine interacts with KONA3 via AE CS6, yet Premiere doesn’t see it. On the MacBook Pro Retina, I have BlackMagic Desktop Video 9.6.9 installed, and with other programs it works great. Just cant get Premiere to see it.

February 8, 2013 at 4:55 pmWas Pr installed later than AE, or re-installed, or had its preferences trashed? Tried re-installing the drivers?

February 8, 2013 at 6:02 pmSorry I can’t help you Larry, but I’m having the same issue with my AJA Kona HLe – CS6 AE sees it, PP audio sees it, but PP video playback doesn’t work. Any suggestions for me?
I’m on a Mac Pro, 10.6.8, 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT
Thanks.

February 8, 2013 at 6:05 pmHi Larry, Just saw your post on twitter. For the Kona card you will have to install the AJA MAC plug in for PrPro and as far as the UStudio goes. The option should be there. As a test you can set a sequence to one of the BMD settings, import your video and see if it recognizes the output card. Which UltraStudio are you using? SDI?
I have an IOXT and a US3D that I use here with no problems

February 8, 2013 at 6:38 pmPremiere was upgraded from 5.5 at the same time on the MacPro, and the CS6 install on the laptop was all new, at the same time.
