Premiere CS5.5 – problems with MsMpeg4 v2 codec?
Hello,
I’ve got a client that’s been recording video in .avi and .asf format with the MsMpeg4 v2 codec. It imports fine into Premiere CS5.5, but when they go to play it back or scrub through the video it’s extremely laggy, and puts a red-line through part of the video. It makes editing extremely cumbersome and time-consuming, as right now we have inserted an intermediate step of rendering out the raw video with Adobe Media Encoder (or the equivalent of it) in order to get a working codec that Premiere understands. However, that creates a generation loss and adds lots of time to the workflow; if that’s avoidable it would be terrific to find out how.
Is there a plugin for CS5 that allows Premiere to read the MsMpeg4v2 codec properly? Or will I always have to convert in the middle stage to get smooth playback and scrubbing?
