  • Premiere CS5 logging Problem

Premiere is not batch capturing! When I log a clip, it logs the video size at 1440 X 1080! The project however was created as 720p; it’s what the sequence resolution is set to. Why would Premiere arbitrarily chose the wrong resolution? I have checked all the settings, they all say 720p, is there something I am missing?

Premiere will not alter the resolution during capture, it can’t. This is digital and it would have to be re-rendered.

I am assuming these are HDV files, and so they are 1440×1080 native.

If you want a matching project, create an HDV project (1080i), otherwise you will need to scale the clips down to fit the frame, or enable “scale to frame size” in your preferences. Or you can right click on every clip and again, choose “scale to frame size”.

The project was created at 720p, I have a JVC GY-HD100u; which 720p is its maximum resolution. When I open the capture window and press the record button it works just fine. Clips are recorded at 1280 X 720, the correct resolution of the project and the sequence. However, if I mark and in-point and out-point, then log the clip; the offline clips’ video properties lists its’ resolution at 1080 X 1440, which does not match the project? I even changed my decks output to 720p only. I re-installed CS3 and did the exact same procedure created a new 720p project, logged and captured clips without a problem! Is there some new setting in CS5 I don’t know about?
