Premiere CS4 won’t save an imported CS3 project.
Hi,
Premiere CS4 is hanging whenever I attempt to save an imported CS3 file.
On opening it manages to bring up the timeline, library and will playback ok.. but it just won’t save. It halts before any change to the progress bar. I have left it at this stage for 30mins+, and upon giving up, pressing cancel causes the whole program to crash.
I have searched extensively for some help to this problem, but it seems to be uncommon.
I am running the latest version of CS4 on a dual core PC with an integrated graphics card (but files are DV quality or less)… so I don’t think that the graphics card is the issue.
Any assistance, checklists, ideas etc would be .very. welcome. I can’t go back to CS3 – so for now I am stuck with a near finished project and no way to edit it.

How much footage is in there? Try sending me the file at: Vince – at – kaptis.com and I’ll see if I can figure it out.

If the project is not too complex, try re-building it on a new timeline. This sometimes occurs in applications – I’ve experienced this in Illustrator numerous times – the only fix, copy ALL of the contents into a new file, then save it.

There’s currently about 300gig of assorted media files associated with the project & the total length of all sequences added together is about 1hr and 30mins.
I will send you project file when I get home from my day job tonight. (Obviously I won’t be able to send through the footage or content).

Now that I think about it – I remember having done that once before myself – but as you say it depends on how complex the project file is.
Anyway, it’s definitely worth a shot! Thanks – I will give it a go and see what happens..
