With a little help from BMD I figured out this workflow and thought I’d share it in case anyone else runs into the same scenario…

I’m shooting tapeless with a JVC GY-HD110 camera & a DR-HD100 DTE recorder. Premiere CS3 (WindowsXP) & Intensity Pro card. I downloaded & installed Decklink drivers. This gave me all the codecs. I copied the codecs to another folder then uninstalled the Decklink drivers. Then I installed the Intensity drivers and copied the codecs (from the Decklink install) to my presets folder in Premiere. The Varicam motion JPEG HD720p 23.976fps setting works great with the JVC files (shot with the same parameters). No rendering required and I get playback through the HDMI to my HD monitor.

    Hello Matt,

Thanks for sharing your solution. I love reading about things that work!

My immediate goal is simply to use Intensity Pro to playback my CS3PPro timeline w/a HDMI client monitor.

I’ve just purchased a BM Intensity Pro, and need to playback existing sequences (not digitized w/Intensity Pro Preset) so I am intriqued by your post. Had you not done what you did, would you have had to render everything to play it back on a HDMI monitor?

Also, can you elaborate a bit on this part:
“Then I installed the Intensity drivers and copied the codecs (from the Decklink install) to my presets folder in Premiere.”

What problem were you overcoming, or why couldn’t you install it the way it was intended by BM? Thanks again.

    Hi Richard,
I too have installed the Intensity Pro card – just to be able to monitor in HD from the CS3 timeline via the HDMI cable into a HD TV.
I can get a picture out, but no motion – and the timeline won’t play as it should either.
The files are Cineform converted ones from AVCHD. I don’t want to have to capture everything with Intensity if I can help it, just to carry on editing previous projects already started. Have you had any luck with your setup?
Anything that I haven’t thought of changing in settings anywhere?

    Regards,

    Robin
