I’ve spent a ton of time searching for a solution but have not found one. Problem:

Premiere CS 5.5 simply will not playback a simple HD timeline (one layer, no effects, a few simple dissolve transitions) without stuttering, pauses, audio hiccups etc.

My system is Intel Core i7 Extreme 980x 6 core
    12GB RAM
    1TB striped system drive
    4TB video/audio drive – 200MB/sec sustained write speed
    Nvidia GTS 250 1GB RAM
Latest Blackmagic drivers (9.1 I think)

I’ve tried dozens of setups. DSLR footage from Canon cameras, AVCHD footage from AF100, transcoding footage to Decklink MJPEG, transcoding footage to Cineform etc. etc. I’ve also tried what seems like 100 different project and sequence combinations…and nothing works. I’ve even tried (at the recommendation of Adobe forum support from an Adobe staffer) installing the FFMBC version of FFDSSHOW, which is supposed to be designed and optimized for broadcast systems.

I’ve read with a lot of disappointment hundreds of posts on here and other forums of scores of other users with similar systems have the exact same problems.

I cannot believe that Blackmagic claims Premiere Pro CS 5.5 support when this is the performance we get. Like many other users, I MUST have external monitoring capability to a broadcast monitor….mainly for client review during sessions.

Anyway…appreciate any suggestions for optimizing setup and sequence settings that others are using with success (especially with AF100 footage).

    Thanks
