Premiere codec problem! Help Me Please!
Hi,
My problem is that premiere is constantly going down. Whenever I open my project file, 4 ffdshow (it’s a codec) icons apear in the down right part of the computer (near the clock). I supose that’s the cause of the problem, but I don’t know what to do.
Please help me! I’m despered

The problem is that the file you are importing into Premiere is probably using this codec, but it might work without it.
Just know that premiere really doesn’t support many of those external codecs. You can probably remove FFDshow from the Add / Remove Programs area, if not, go to: Control Panel > Switch to “Classic View”, then go to Sounds and Audio Devices > Hardware Double click on “video Codecs” > Properties tab and see if you can remove FFDShow from there.Vince

ok, I’ve just uninstalled ffdshow, but now I can’t see the movies. What’s the best codec choice you recomend?

Since FFDShow is comprised of many codecs, you will need to know the codec that was used to compress the particular footage you are using. If it’s DivX, then you need the Divx Codec. What I would do is download a copy of GSpot, a tiny free application: https://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/index.htm
After install, start it up and drag the footage file to the window. In the top right it will tell you what codec was used, it will just be a matter of downloading it.
Of course, it could also be that Premiere just doesn’t like that particular codec…
