Premiere Certification
Posted by Marcelo Lewin on July 6, 2005 at 3:29 amAnyone here is certified Premiere user from Adobe (ACE)? I’ve been toying with the idea of taking the test, however, I’m not sure if that is just throwing $150 down the drain or does it make difference when getting gigs (to say your are an ACE?)
Cheers!

July 6, 2005 at 4:37 amI got my ACE certification in May. It really doesn’t help in getting paid gigs, but they do help if you plan on training (along with teaching degree)

July 6, 2005 at 10:47 pmYeah, it’s not a money/gig-maker for sure.
Rather, it’s a sign that you’re a trusted go-to kinda guy for help with Premiere. If you’re into the whole training thing, or are looking for more accreditation with your current job, it’s a good step. I find that people take my advice a lot more seriously and practically when I give it as a result.
Also, it looks snappy on your business cards, too.
I fear the Adobe After Effects Cert Exam. If that’s any trickier than the Premiere Pro Cert Exam, then that bad boy is most likely hewn from fresh evil… If you seriously want to take the Premiere test, STUDY. A LOT.
Good luck.

July 7, 2005 at 4:01 amThanks for the great advice. Without giving away any of the questions, can you give a sample of what they ask? Do they ask alot about the specific effects? Do they go into compression techniques? Do they talk about color correction? Keyboard shortcuts? Anyhow…Thanks for the advice. I’m done with Jacob Rosenberg’s Studio Techniques book and I also finished the Tips & Tricks DVD. I’m now in the middle of Jacob’s comprehensive DVD training and I also did the one from Lynda.com. Is there anything specific I should be studying?
Cheers

July 7, 2005 at 6:15 amYou cannot pass the test without practical exprience. The test combines all sorts of questions ranging from the most minute details to the most comprehensive settings. If I am not mistaken, there is a sample test on Adobe’s site (btw…the sample is extremely easy, but the real test is much more difficult)

You can find the certification guidelines in the above link. Me too, sailing in the same boat, preparing for ACE Exam.
Cheers and best of luck.
