  • Premiere CC 2014 can’t recognize ProRes file

Posted by Joe Knapp on August 14, 2014 at 8:40 pm

    Hey gang,

So, I just updated to Premiere CC 2014 on my Macbook Pro Retina. I opened up a PP project made with the previous version, but now find that 2 ProRes HQ files are now offline. Attempts to reconnect or import those files are being met with a “generic error” (cue Debbie Downer music…)

I’ve exhausted all of the tricks that I’ve found online: deleting codecs, downloading & hand-replacing new ones, updating, signing out & in, cleaning my cache, rebooting, black magic, speaking in tongues…everything.

Anyone run into this and/or have advice?

    Joe,

Did you change anything else when you updated to 2014? Update your Mac OS or anything?

One thing to try is here

    Hope this helps,
    Dennis – Adobe guy

Thanks, Dennis. Possibly. I had downloaded the trial, before our IT guy switched us to the Enterprise license. Probably best bet is to completely clean & reinstall. I’ll need wait until my workload dies down, and keep using old Premiere CC in the meantime.

I’ll circle back if there’s any resolution. Thx!

Update: I cleaned out every trace of Adobe, and reinstalled it. Created a new project…but still running into the same weirdness.

Even weirder, if I move the clip up a folder level, or copy to desktop and import, it recognizes it. I reuse the same folder template for my projects, so perhaps something became corrupt. Odd that it only affects ProRes.
