I recently burned 4x copies of a wedding video. When I play back the copies on my machine – a good quality panasonic – they play back perfectly. I gave them to the bride and groom and they claim that one 1 out of 4 plays well while the other three skip, music skips, picture has square blotches etc. I took back the 3 dvds and watched them – they were perfectly fine.

    Could this be my bitrate?
How do I find my bitrate on adobe?
Could this also be that I’m watching them on an HDTV?

    Any help would be great.

This is a common problem, especially with playback of burned DVDs on older DVD players. Some players are fine with replicated DVDs but not so great with burned DVDs. A few years ago a friend of mine bundled an inexpensive DVD player with each wedding to make sure this would not happen. Have the client play back on a different or new player. Have them watch it play back on your player or play back using a laptop.

I have also had some brands of blank DVD disks not play back correctly on certain brands of players. Changing to a different brand of blank disks fixed the problem in this case. A school system had Sony players in all locations and this DVD was used in all of them. You could also try reducing the bitrate in Encore or use a lower bitrate preset.
