Have just completely reinstalled Premiere 1.51 as it was getting flaky. There were two particular problems I hoped to get rid of but both are still there. (I did a complete uninstall first, deleted all directories and installed afresh.) Problem 1 – When I save an edit file it does not preserve the window layout. I can quickly restore via workspace/my settings but this is an irritation. The edit files always come up with the same junk arrangement of windows – one I have never used. Problem 2 is more serious. In various situations (but always on a mouse click), the entire Premiere programme just disappears. I find myself back in a bare desktop and of course whatever I have been working on is lost. I have checked Task Manager and sure enough, nothing of Premiere is running. Any bright ideas?

The second issue seems to be with some software or hardware conflict within your system. Could you please list your system details and any installed software (other than the “normal” applications like MS Office”)

    Thanks,

The system is based on an Asus P4P800-E motherboard with an Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz processor and 1Gb of Ram. Video card is a Matrox Millenium G550. There is a Matrox RTX100 board installed. I am running Premiere 1.51 with the latest Matrox tools. The mouse is a Logitech, but I had the same problem with a different mouse and driver. There is a PCI firewire 800 card, but again, I had the problem before this was installed. The only software installed is Premiere, Audition, and Encore, WinDVD creator, WinRip, WinDVD 5 and Easy CD creator. I will email you the system file. I have recently installed the excellent Digisuite, but the problem predates this. Many thanks for taking the time to look at this problem.

Make sure you are using the correct PCI slot for the RTX card (see Matrox web site). Do you have Matrox Hot Fix 2 patch installed? I have a nearly identical system configuration, and my system seems stable.

As to your workspace problem, I would suggest using the keyboard mapping to assign a hotkey to your favorite (user) layout.

I don’t know about running an RTX and a DigiSuite card on the same system. This sounds like potential trouble.

The RTX card is in the correct slot and I do have the hotfix patch.
