premiere 6
Posted by Ed Kukla on August 24, 2007 at 7:14 pmI have Premiere 6 with Canopus Storm. Haven’t used it in several years. I’m trying to import a QT movie into premiere and I get audio only. Is this an incompatability with the old version 6 software & new QT? Can I get a simple upgrade or patch to make this work?

August 24, 2007 at 9:57 pmI am afraid that you will need to find a really ancient copy of Quicktime.
Premiere 6 is so old that there have been many changes over the years. You have been left behind. Sorry. There are not many of us with anything that old on our PCs.

August 25, 2007 at 7:15 pmThere are still some Storm users out there that use old Premiere, if he can find a copy he should upgrade to Premiere 6.5 and try a copy of QT6 or look for a copy of Edius 3.x and up on ebay

You’re saying that 6.5 will handle current QT.mov files? I’m not very literate with this stuff, I don’t really edit. I could try to find an upgrade to 6.5 I suppose… -

August 25, 2007 at 11:15 pmWhat I’m saying that Premiere 6.5 will probably handle QT ver6 or maybe 6.5, which would give you a better chance of handling more files, or use Edius with the Storm card, When my last Storm system went belly up I decided to try just Edius/Storm rather than try to load the older drivers along with burying the hand of a hanged man at a crossroads that faced the cardinal points on the night of the new moon at midnight to make sure they loaded right, the storm/edius machine is chugging along fine with QT 6.5, didn’t load 7.x yet as when it first came out it was buggy, when the second version came out it was supposed to be more stable, but the next version cured that.
