I am editing with the premiere cs 5.0.1 system.

My computer configuration is as follows:
    Intel processor I-7 950 3.07 GHZ
    12 gb ram
Graphics card: nvidia Geforce GTX 470
Blackmagic decklink SD/SDIi card using version update 8.
    Windows 7 64 bit.

I am experiencing serious lags in my computer functions.
These lags cause the premiere to enter a ”not responding” mode many times,
Which ends after a few minutes. But usually I have to end the task using the task manager.

The actual wait for the task manager to start and to end the task is very long and I noticed the premiere takes about 10gb of memory.
Other times when the premiere is on without any edit being performed the memory usage is about 8gb.

When Blacmagic drivers are uninstalled and the card itself is not physically installed in the computer, the processes are much faster and there are no lags. Memory usage is 2.5 gb during editing as opposed to 8gb when Blacmagic is installed and no editing is taking place.

When I run a ghost image to the first day of install, the computer runs ok for about a month and then the same problem resumes.
Are there maybe some clashes with these versions of the premiere and blackmagic?

Are there maybe some changes I can make to the graphics card (nvidia or blackmagic) or premiere program that’ll cause the computer to run more smoothly?
Running a ghost image every month is not really the solution…

    Thanks in advance,
    Amir

Its obviously a problem with Black Magic and not your computer. Contact them for a solution.

    Hi Amir,

First off, update Premiere to 5.0.3, this will add bug fixes. Next, you say you are using the 8.0 drivers, but those say they are for CS5.5, the last driver I see for CS5 is 7.9.6 version, so you may need to step back.

You might also want to try updating the Nvidia display driver if not current.

    Thanks
