Seems I am having problems capturing my footage (I am using an external hard drive). I can only download 18 minutes and then it shows an error, I save the footage I have capture it to my project file, rewind the footage back a few frames (before the error), and it will plays through without any problems. I’d like the ability to download the entire tape in one file and then onto a DVD.

Is it my camera (Canon XL1s), coding the tape, or is it something that I am overlooking with Premier Pro?

    None of the above.

Your hard disk are formatted with the Fat 32 file system that has a file size limit of 4 GB that result in

Thanks for the info – tried with my C drive and it’s already NTFS. Since I’m capturing using my E drive; it tells me it is FAT32. Any way of converting this? I’m still stopping at 18 minutes.

You must convert your E drive since you are capturing on it!

In Windows, go to start, click on the Run button, in the text box that pops-up write convert E: /fs:ntfs, click OK.

    Windows will convert your drive.

You should convert all your other drives that are not already NTFS.

I tried previously, and again Andre and I still get the following message:

“This type of the file system is FAT32”
“Enter current volume label for Drive E”

I should have mentioned this before.

[RD44/OPC] “”Enter current volume label for Drive E””
The volume label is the name that you have given to your drive like System or A/V or Capture as examples.

For your info, here are the exact instructions you find in Windows “Help and Support on how to convert a Hdisk from the FAT32 to the NTFS system:

    [Quote]

To convert a volume to NTFS from the command prompt
    Open the Command Prompt window.
In the command prompt window, type
    convert drive_letter: /fs:ntfs

For example, typing convert E: /fs:ntfs would format drive E: with the ntfs format.

    Notes

To open a command prompt, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
You can convert FAT or FAT32 volumes to NTFS with this command.

Andre, finally got it and thank you. I had to rename the E drive and get rid of all open handles (Y/N), and dismount everything. To test, I converted once again and the prompt stated that the E Drive was already ntfs.

Thanks again Andre, been loads of help.
