This is what we were all doing in 5.5 when only AE had the stabilizer. Worked fine.

I have the exact same issue with After Effects CS5.5 given I’m using very little media (10-60 second commercial, i’m usually using less than 5 minutes of media) – the project and especially save time of the project grows a lot when using the filter.

If this scales with the amount of media – PPCS6 projects will scale like crazy. Do you have issues with long saving times as well?

I am getting the same hideous bloating on Mac and I’m not even using warp. My project jumped from 120mb to 5.88Gb overnight. The project take 30minutes to save or open. I am not impressed.

Adobe statement that might relate to topic…

There’s a known bug having to do with preview files & using Save As frequently – it’ll double the number of preview file references incorrectly on each iteration. This will be fixed in the next update. Considering the amount of cuts with software effects, I’m betting that this is what you’re hitting.

Importing your project into a new one is a good suggestion, it’s likely to leave behind any preview file references.

I am cutting a feature in CS6 and have been having this project file size problem. I am up to date and not using any warp stabilizer effects. I am not using Save As all the time either. The only thing I could think of is that it is because the project was originally started in FCP7. It was migrated to CS6 via an xml. It was working great, but I noticed the project file size started to get bigger and bigger. At the moment I am at about 2gb. I am not using really any plugins or effects. Just some 3 way color correctors and a couple looks effects here and there, but probably only 5 or so in the entire film. There are a ton of cuts and tracks. I assume this could be the problem? I have done features in CS5.5 before and never had this many problems. I am going to try the opening it in a new project strategy. I hope this works, because it is taking ATLEAST 30 minutes to save every time and if it pops up with an auto save while I am in the middle of something and I tell it to cancel it tends to freeze the program and I have to force quit and lose everything I had just done. This is NOT acceptable and I have contacted Adobe on this issue on several occasions and not heard anything back from them. If this doesn’t work I am going to try jumping out the window. I will post back with an update as to which route worked.

Holy crap that worked like a charm. Took forever to pull my sequence in, but it only takes about 15-20 seconds to save now instead of at least 20 minutes! Thanks Tom you’re a life saver!

What? what worked like a charm? You pulled your sequence in?
I thought this problem was mine alone and I was ready to slash my wrists because my program has frozen and lost all my edits at least 10 times (most often during saving. I was blaming it on my new iMac (always had a PC before). Now I hear there may be hope. Please let me know.

    Thanks a ton!

I’m thinking you mean creating a new project and importing the sequences? I’ll try it. Just forced quit again for a now unknown amount of times. This is killing me.

This is affecting me today, in Premiere CC, using warp stabilizer clips. It’s a nightmare. Adobe is as bloated as this project file has become.

[Garrett Gibbons] “This is affecting me today, in Premiere CC, using warp stabilizer clips. It’s a nightmare.”

All the analysis data is stored in the project file.

I think that handling your stabilization in a separate project (or a few separate projects if you have a lot of them) and rendering intermediates is worth doing to keep the main project file manageable.
