    Hi All-

I’d like to grab some footage off the free Prelinger Archives but I’m confused as to the right format for downloading, then editing, then burning to a DVD (full screen)

Here’s a typical page from the Archives (the dowmoad formats are on the left column):

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

For DVD then you should download the MPEG-2 and it will be ready to burn. You’d need smething to edit MPEG files, I think I heard V6 or 7 will do that but there’s also others like Woomble, I’m still sticking with V5.

MPEG-4 is not good quality for re-rendering to MPEG-2 IMHO and it’s a much smaller picture size. I’ve tried it and while I got acceptable results, it wasn’t a perfect video; some artifacting. I stay away from Real Media for personal reaasons. Used to be heavy adware and spyware. Don’t know if that’s changed though.

The Cinepak is a codec that Vegas uses but I’m not sure about whether it’s an AVI or not. MPEG-1 is for VCD (Video CD) which in simple terms is VHS quality on a CD (poor-man’s DVD) popular in Asia.
