  • Preferences dialog box goes off the screen when I unplug second monitor

I have a Macbook Pro, 15 inch that I have connected to a second 23″ monitor most of the time. Whenever I’m working in Illustrator with the two screens everything seems to be fine.

But every time I disconnect the second monitor and try to access the preferences dialog box, it is completely off the screen and there’s no way to retrieve it, unless I trash my preference file. I already tried using spaces and today I even connected my ipad as a second monitor, since I didn’t have access to my regular second monitor, the dialog box wasn’t there. I know it’s appearing somewhere, because the rest of the program gets grayed out until I hit command . to cancel.

I don’t know how else I can fix this without having to trash my preferences every time.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
