I have this annoying! problem. My Premiere CS3 alwyas crash crash when (and ONLY) scrolling my library of importet files and ONLY if thumbnails are ON (and a lot of likes ~50+. If im scroling slowly with mouse scroll it’s ok, working. But if i want to go down jsut to for example change folder of imp files BAM! premiere is down! It’s like Premiere can’t keep up of loading previews of the minatures and crashing.

It’s same on my XP sp3 x86 and Vista sp1x64.

    my hdd:
    Barracuda 120 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/100
    Barracuda 250 gb 7200.7 SATA/150
    500GB USB external HDD

The partition running the OS now has 70GB free space. External HDD 100GB (its where usualy i keep project files). I thought maybe my USB drive is to slow so i did same with internal one. Same result. Pr Crashing.

They are Defragmented. There is no problem with overheating. Virtual Memomy is set as Adobe suggest. None additional plugins installed. Using one monitor. Q6600, 4gb of RAM. galaxy geforce 8800GT 178.13 drivers. Soundcard audigy2 zs with newest drivers.

    Project is PAL – DV

    premiere is 3.2.0

Ok, i hope thats enough INFO.

Hi Peter, I ever got the same problem, what I did is reformat the Windows downgrade to SP2… it crashed when I install Windows XP SP3. Try to use SP2 don’t upgrade it to SP3 may be there is conflict with the hardware either.
Last time I changed also my motherboard. and downgrade to SP2, and it works properly.

But the problem doesn’t appear with my brother laptop, he upgraded to SP3 then it has no problem with the Premiere Pro CS3. just try to downgrade first to SP2.

Windows XP SP3 is not stabile yet..

But as i wrote – it happens as well on Windows Vista x64 SP1. Same problem there. MY Vista is on seperate drive, it was “clean” install. OS + Premier + basic soft (like firewall etc).

And it’s all started since i bought Quad6600 CPU and Asus Striker MoBo. But said that i know a friend of mine who is using same Mobo and have no problems at all…….

Maybe i Will give it a shoot with Xp OS partition…

No i havent tried to reinstall it because i have “two” Premiers installed – each seperate isntalation for my both OS. They are both in different HDD etc. So i m guessing one instalation have nothing to do with other. And Vista uses diff partition a his “C” then XP

I tried disable SMART, changing Virtual Memory size defrgamenting the partitions etc. Its always the same thing – when u try to scroll lil fast ur librarby with a lot of files something getting wrong.
