I have animated a shape using the puppet tool in comp 1. I want to move it to comp 2 and animate the position/scale in that comp. I was under the impression that I just use precompose to achieve this. When I precompose the shape and then drag it in to comp2, all of the puppet tool animations are in tact but as soon as I change the position, the shape reverts to its original settings before I added the puppet tool effect…What am I doing wrong?

Kind of a blurry description of what you’re doing… Here’s how it works for sure:
Method 1: Animate with puppet tool your shape, link the layer to a Null and change/animate position and size by changing that Null.

Method 2: Precompose the layer you need to apply Puppet tool to. Open that precomp, apply in it Puppet Tool, go back to main comp and animate position/size of the precomp layer.
