    Hello !

I was just wondering about a thing.
Why isnt it possible to edit the properties of a nested composition’s layers in the main composition ?

I know AE is not node-based, but this feature would make its layer-based system a bit advanced and more easy to use, am i right ?

its so much of a time-taking process to open up a nested comp, navigate in there too, make a little change (eg: move a keyframe by 1 frame), and then switch back to the main composition, and watch the stuff happen. And if its not good, then start all over again…

I bet it would not be so hard to code to be able to see (and manipulate) the animation properties of a layer inside of a nested comp, looking at them from the ‘outside’.

i would be interested in your thoughts on this!

Something like “uber twirl” would be terrific but for now you can speed things up a bit by selecting the comp you want to open and using the keyboard shortcut “Option/Alt + Enter” to open it. Also consider dragging your panels side-by-side so you can see the changes in the main comp as you make them in the precomp.

Exactly..you can lock individual comp windows to certain comps and also select one to always be the output to your broadcast monitor (the ‘final’ or ‘master’ comp presumably)

UBER twirl or whatever would be awesome though..like grouping layers in Photoshop.
