I’m running FCP 5 on a dual 2.7 G5, Kona LS setup using rs232 to control a Sony UVW-1400AP betacam deck. This is all fine for capturing but when assemble editing to tape I am nowhere near frame accurate – something like 15 frames out. I’m pretty sure this has something to do with the pre-roll which stubbornly reamins at 15frames no matter what settings I use in the device control dialogue. I have searched the UVW-1400APs menus for a pre-roll setting but there doesn’t appear to be one, so I’m assuming FCP is in control. Have I missed an FCP setting or is the problem with the deck?

any help as eveer greatly appreciated

I’m pretty sure you need an UVW-1800 to get accurate edits… The 1400 is a player/recorder, and the 1800 is an editing deck…
