pre rendering
I’m new to Sony Vegas but have been using for a while and have rendered files, but I have been told I have to prerender sections where I have created video effects. My question is when I prerender what do I save the render file as. ie My project say is Tara’s sports carnival and have various chapters. Do I render as Tara’s sports carnival and the name of the chapter. I’m sorry if this sounds like a silly question.

From the Vegas online help menu:
From the Tools menu, choose Selectively Prerender Video to render temporary preview files for the sections of your project that cannot be rendered in real time. These temporary preview files are used when you play back that section of the project.
When you perform a selective prerender, a separate preview file is created for each section of your project that needs to be prerendered. Sections that contain transitions, effects, and compositing will need to be prerendered; unprocessed DV media files will not.When you choose this option, a dialog box opens up allowing you to specify various options.
The location of pre-rendered files is set in your Project Properties (File > Properties).
Be advised that if you make any changes to a section after pre-rendering, you’ll have to do it again. -
