Hi, I teach high school video production and we are working in After Effects quite a bit at this point in the year. I would like to develop a series of lessons that involve the use of pre-matted footage. This leads me to two questions:

    1. Is there any site online that has completely FREE pre-matted footage?

    2. We do not have green screen material or lighting (other than florescent ceiling lights). Is it still possible to produce broadcast quality matted video given these restraints? If so, how? (I have been very unsuccessful.)

We do not have a budget at all, and I can’t afford to keep buying stuff for the classes…. I’m broke! Any help would be appreciated!

Depending how long your matted clip is going to be, you could always (egad!) go frame by frame and clean it that way, but yes it would have to be very valuable work to be worth it if its more than a few seconds..

Did you say hold the screen so it’s in shadow?
