Pre-cpmp content not visible in Front view
Posted by Blahtor Magnus on March 18, 2009 at 11:44 pmI have a keyed out human that is a part of a pre-comp (together with a copy of this track that is the shadow).
The figure from this pre-comp shows OK in “Active Camera” view but does not show in “Front” view. There are several other pre-comps that are set just like that one and also contain humans with their shadows but they show normally in the Front view.
What could be the reason for the contents of this pre-comp not to show in Front view?

March 19, 2009 at 12:57 pmOK, guys, I really need to know what is going on.
Here is a screenshot of the problematic Pre-Comp (VOCALS – 1) and the other Pre-Comps.The areas that do not match are marked in RED (for the problematic pre-comp) and in GREEN for the pre-comps that work OK in Front view)
I never tweaked any of those settings but somehow they are different.
I am not sure if these differences are causing the problem with VOCALS – 1 not to show in Front view.
When i try to twek these setting, I get different results from the other pre-comps. -

Please, have a look at the screenshot from my previous post and tell me what is going on. -

March 21, 2009 at 2:08 pmThe camera is at the same distance from all objects.
It’s basically three keyed out human figures – the three takes of the vocalist that I am going to use.
They are all in the same XYZ position in 3D space – same distance from camera.
Still, one of them is acting strangely.
It works OK in Active Camera view, but disappears in Front view.I already mentioned this and you can see it from the screenshot that the problematic pre-comp also has different settings set to it (NOT BY ME!!!).
When I try to change those settings, they act in a different way from the rest of the pre-comps.
I realize that meybe they don’t have any effect on things but still – it’s strange that this pre-comp acts so differently from the rest when in reality it is no different from them – it was created using the same methods as the rest…I don’t consider this big of a problem as I will be using Active Camera view only for the final render, but it’s an interesting problem anyway (A program bug? Not likely… hehe).

Well, I guess it was over a month ago–but I just experienced a similar issue and was searching through here — comparing your screenshot with my comp revealed what the prob was for me, anyway.
If it helps you, I deleted an effect from my problematic precomp and it now acts as expected. I see the effect icon on your precomp also. I note that simply turning off the effect did nothing, but deleting it wholesale did the trick. In my case, shadows were acting erratically and now behave properly.
If this doesn’t work for you, at least let me thank you for posting your screenshot which triggered my solution.
cheers,

I just left the problematic pre-comp “as is”.
Never needed the Front view, so it was okay with me.If I had to do sizing and tweaking in the Front View, that would have been a problem, though.
May I ask what the bad effect was?
