Praise for Sony Vegas Pro 9
Posted by Michele Feneley on August 18, 2010 at 11:37 amI have been using this software for a couple of weekends now to edit my HD footage – I am absolutely thrilled with it. It has not crashed once, unlike Adobe Premiere Elements which crashed several times in one session and it is really user-friendly even for someone who has not used a pro package before!

August 18, 2010 at 2:37 pmIt’s good to hear that people are having a positive experience with Vegas Pro. My daughter recently asked me if she could edit some videos for YouTube, so I got her a copy of Vegas Movie Studio HD 10 and she is having an absolute blast with it and it’s been solid as a rock. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

August 18, 2010 at 4:37 pmI agree Michele. I use both Final Cut Pro and Vegas on a regular basis. I much prefer Vegas though I long for some of the effects that third parties provide for Apple and Adobe. (the templates for things like lower thirds, etc. need some updating, in my opinion).
But my setup, like yours, is usually very stable. Some crashes have recently cropped up due to my buying a Canon T2i, and it’s implementation of MOV files. But all of us are ahead of the manufactures in general with these incredibly high def consumer video cameras, like Canon. The file sizes they create are huge.
I also I think that many of the issues people run into have to do with the wide variety of hardware that Windows supports. There’s huge variety of hardware, manufacturers, cameras, etc. Other vendors, like Apple, force a narrow set of guidelines that they own, while any of us with any old Windows computer with enough RAM and hard drive, can use Sony. And yes, it’s pretty stable. Best of luck, and I can tell you that you came to the right forum for support issues. John and others are great.

August 20, 2010 at 7:19 amI totally agree with you about Vegas being great.
I have used Premiere Pro before and like most Adobe products they are high quality, but extremely hard to learn.
Premiere crashed on me and I couldn’t get satisfactory support to get it going again. I didn’t have a lot of spare cash, so I tried Vegas Movie Studio Platinum. It’s been fantastic so far………user friendly and easy to learn.
I may upgrade to the Pro version one day …………but Studio does everything I need right now.Well done Sony !!!
Video for the Web is kool.
