So, I have found that PPro 5.5 will not playback a sequence at times and I am trying to figure out why. I have a MacPro 8-core 2.4 system with 8 gigs of ram. When I open the sequence and hit play, the play button changes to the stop button but the sequence doesn’t play.

Is there a known issue with this on the mac?

Are you using any monitoring hardware?

With previous Matrox drivers I found this to be the case quite frequently.

    Actually, it’s all software monitoring.

Well, I guess the usual “more details” questions apply (forgive me if I’m asking you to repeat yourself.)

    – What is your sequence setting?
    – What are are the media formats?
    – Are you running the latest PPro? (5.5.2)
    – Does it happen with all sequences?

I am suspecting some kind of incompatibility. I restarted the machine and the sequences played back fine.

The footage came from the Panasonic HMC80. The sequence settings are at 24p/48Khz 1280×720

    It is 5.5.2

It was happening with whatever project I opened.

Try going into Prefs / Media and then activate Clean.

    George,

You may want to see my post on playback woes I posted just a few minutes ago. I am running a Mac Pro with CS5.5 and have had similar issues.

That seems to resolve the problem. I just wonder what causes it. Thanks!
