I have a hdv sony handy cam HDR-FX1. I am plugged directly into it from the pc. Once in capturing mode within PREMIERE, it reads it just fine. The time code works, functions such as play/stop, but it wont capture anything! I will press the record button and nothing saves, like usually the window pops up afterwards to name the raw footage you just captured. Help!? Thanks

    Hi Chris,

HDV cameras by default will be set in the camera menu to downconvert video on the 1394 output, send out HDV > DV. That is why you have device control, but no picture.

Go into the camera menu and turn off “i.Link Convert”. Also, set “VCR” to “HDV” rather than auto.

Important – CLOSE Premiere. Turn OFF camera. Power camera ON again and wait for computer to beep or show pop up recognizing the camera. PC must see HDV device before starting Premiere. Then start Premiere HDV project and it should work
