Nobody who beta tests can say anything, and I haven’t seen anything in the announcements that indicate that there will be a render que like After Effects. I think they would have shouted that from the treetops in their documents if that had been done.

I don’t expect that linking from Premiere Pro to After Effects is a high priority. After Effects to Premiere Pro is important but the other way around indicates a workflow I would not personally use, but I suppose someone might.

The ability to batch render is a must… if it’s not included in this release, I’m switching to FCP.

Get ready to switch. Let us know when you are tired of the bugs in FCP, and tired of doing without some of the things you have taken for granted in Premiere Pro.

Such as…? I’m seriously interested to know, because I’m seriously considering switching…

Actually, my main reason for switching would be for the native DVCProHD support. I really have nothing against Premiere… but batch exporting seems like such an elemental feature… it’s really a neccessity for my work. I really don’t understand why it’s not already included in PPro when it is in AE.

I use both Ppro 2 AND FCP 5.1.4 and I can tell you that each have their good and bad points. I have found a marriage of both apps that get my workflow done albiet with lots of workarounds. I suggest maybe you do the same; have both available to you.

Thanks for that. That would most likely be my situation… I currently have two laptops running PPro2.0 but am needing a more substantial editing suite. I’d definitely not do away with the two laptops. How good this Adobe update is will determine whether I’ll get a PPro system or FCP…

At the moment I’m thinking FCP, mainly for HD support and I also think having a FCP system would help in getting freelance work, if only for its reputation and use in the industry.

Do you think that Adobe cares about CS3 offering freelancers a more robust toolset that will allow the ability to compete against FCP editors? My impression is that they care more about selling seats of CS3 to MAC based users of After Effects. Simply put, Adobe appears to regard professional editors as an insignificant market segment that does not warrant features and fixes that will win over professional FCP users. It’s a numbers game.
