  • PPro CS3 – capturing 4 audio channels from Sony J-30

    Hi all,

I’m trying to capture audio channels 1-2 and 3-4 from 25 Digibeta tapes through a Sony J-30 SDI player.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 being a professional editing tool, I’m hoping this is possible to do.

I’m capturing using Firewire connection and I have selected in the Sony player setup menu to output all 4 channels – so my problem is to figure out how make premiere capture 4 channels at the same time.

    Help much appreciated.

Its possible to do it in a 2-pass process, capturing first the CH1/2 and than CH3/4, but this method its a pain when I want to capture 25 tapes or more.

In the User Manual of the player says:

Menu 831 – i.LINK AUDIO OUTPUT SELECT (Selects audio channels output from the iDV connector):
    OPTION 1) CH1/2: Outputs audio signals (16 bits/48K) recorded in CH-1/2.
    OPTION 2) CH3/4: Outputs audio signals (16 bits/48K) recorded in CH-3/4.
    OPTION 3) CH1/2/3/4: Outputs audio signals (12 bits/32K) recorded in CH-1/2/3/4.

    I have selected OPTION 3).

So, being possible to select in the player menu to output all 4 channels through FireWire/iLINK, if PPro CS3 doens’t do it, whitch software is able to capture all 4 at the same time? Final Cut? Some other small software?
