I’m trying to import some XMLs from FCP 7 that originated in FCP X. They originated with Xto7. They open in FCP 7, but in PPro 7.1 they report that the file is damaged. I tried exporting a new XML directly from FCP 7, but same result. it happens on any XMLs created after or before the update. They all report back damaged. Even ones that worked just fine on October 26.

    Bret,
Do you have PrPro CS6 installed? If so(As a workaround), open the XML in CS6 and then you can open the project in CC or use the Media Browser in CC CS6 project and import the correct sequence.

Did you try re-exporting them from FCP7 first before importing into Premiere?

I do! So I imported the XMLs just perfectly fine into 6, then opened the project into CC 7.1. My logical thinking says that CC 7.1 XML import, on my machine at least, is broken. At least for Xto7 XMLs.

This is not the end of the world for me. Especially since I can run it through 6. I just was wanting to take a FCP X sequence into CC 7.1 for fun, and to send it to SpeedGrade to train on grading in there.

Although until SpeedGrade supports BMD (or vice versa?) it’s still an unusable app for the most part. At least now we can send it back over to Premiere and output the sequence to BMD devices.

I tried. No go. But CS6 opens the XMLs just fine, as CC did day before yesterday. So I can save the CS6 project and open it in CC 7.1.

Can we roll back somehow to the previous version before this “wonderful” (uh , yeah) update we got yesterday? I also do not have ACR in AE like I used to when importing DNG seq.

    Hi Bret,

I just upgraded my everyday build of Premiere Pro CC to 7.1 and tried to import a medium-ish sized project from BBC America and it imported without any problems. You might try the basic things like this: 2 tips

I preference manager’d it and no change. The project you speak of… did it come via xto7?

Well, if you want to post the XML, I can take a look. You might also try to create an XML directly from FCP7 and see if that imports to try and isolate where your problem is. As for BBC media, I work with them so have it for testing purposes.

Post it to Dennis or myself and we will take a look

I am having the same issue. One day I’m happily importing XMLs the next day CC says the project may be broken. I try importing XMLs into CS6 and absolutely nothing happens. Another fantastic addition to my monthly subscription. Would love a solution to this.
