PPr and AME h264 Export
I know this is an old issue and I am still baffled as to why we still have to deal with this.
What is the secret sauce with exporting h264 from Premiere Pro/AME these days?
You spend all them days in Resolve and watching it on a 10bit display just to see your work look like poop on the desktop/web 😛
Anyone here feel my pain 🙂

Are you talking about a quality issue? Export an MP4 instead of Quicktime. It’s like night and day in terms of quality.

The Master is from Resolve as ProRes444.
It looks pristine as far as color and quality as far as viewing it on a 10bit display and somewhat close on the desktop.
However, when using Premiere/AME h264 export the default one using Match Source – High bitrate, it renders an MP4 and looks awful compared to the original.
Well, maybe not awful just not to my taste.
No amount of upping the bitrate helps and I’ve tried Constant and VBR1/2 in varying levels.
I would like to get it as close to the original Master if possible. -
Maybe try a preset like the Vimeo 1080p preset and see if that helps.

Hi Eric,
While you’ll probably always see a difference from 4:4:4, especially on a nice monitor, your export should still be clean.
Make sure that none of the “match source” boxes are checked, and I mean none.
Next, can you post a still comparison export and a screencap of your export settings?

I would second using Vimeo 1080p or the 1280p preset. The quality of those presets is very high.
