Hello every one. First post and a relatively dumb question but I need it answered properly or I will be wasting much $$$.

I am moving over from AVID to Premiere Pro at home.
    I have an I7-950 with 24G of DDR3 Ram
My current card is an EVGA/NVIDIA Geforce 960.
The mercury Playback engine wants nothing to do with it so I am planning on getting a new one.

After looking on Adobe’s web site I know what cards to look for.
What I do not know is…Do I have to get a NVIDIA card or will PPCS6 work with the EVGA/NVIDIA.

I know the question is a bit daft but what can I say.

    I am currently looking at
EVGA 03G-P3-1595-AR GeForce GTX 580 Classified

But was also thinking of upgrading to the new GeForce GTX 680

So again do I have to get a straight up NVIDIA card or can I go with EVGA.

    Thank you.

EVGA 03G-P3-1595-AR GeForce GTX 580 Classified would be a great choice–eVGA makes fab cards and their support is great–I’m running one of their older GTX285’s on my system and the performance is terrific.
The MPE does NOT yet work with the new Kepler cards yet (600 series) so if you are needing something now the 580 I’m sure will give you great results…

    Just to follow up.
I have been running the 580 for a month now and it has been fantastic.

No more preview renders for me.

With the release of the 6XX series cards I think the price is going to make the 5XX series that much more affordable.

I plan on getting a second one after the summer.

As for now I highly recommend the GTX580

    ^Tom

    No problems.

I have not added any aftermarket coolers or anything like that.
Just the way she came out of the box.

Under my stress test and bench mark the card hits
55-65C peaked at 70 for a touch though LOL
    Under 99% Load.

    The fan however spins fast.
I am sure prolonged usage at that point could be an issue but so far that has not happened.

I also have a full size HAF 932 that has excellent airflow.

    Hi there

I’m looking for a 2nd graphic card for AE work…and I think I’ll go for the GTX 580
quick one; what about the water cooled version – any experience?

    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130601

This was the only GTX 580 3 gb I found available for online purchase.

    Thanks
