I am getting ready to use PP with shared storage so various production staff can work with the same files and jobs. What happens when the job is opened on one machine, and someone else opens the same job? Is there any locking of job files?

Is anyone else using various seats of PP with shared storage? What’s been your experience?

Windows will prevent you from opening any file that is open on another computer, except as “Read only”. The message will tell you who is working on the file.
There are other issues when using source video files stored on a network server involving lack of response and poor previews…stuttering, etc.

I am focusing on SAN—So what kind of systems have been successful at sharing media? Only SAN fibre channel? I-SCSI?
