I don’t even begin to know how to search the interwebs for the issues I’m having, so I thought I’d post here and see if anyone else is having issues.

I run PP CS6.0.1 via Creative Cloud on a macpro with an NVIDIA Quadro4000 card. Firstly, when I installed the application via Creative Cloud’s installer, the ‘coreaudiod’ bug showed up. Possibly a coincidence, but a strange one at that. Besides the stability issues and the occasional performance bugs, PP has now started doing something even stranger. Now when I launch the app, the startup screen (the dialogue box that displays after the splash screen) now shows up halfway off screen to the right of my monitor (see attached image). Then if I actually open a project, it ALSO loads up halfway off screen. I can easily get everything back on full screen, but it’s still a completely obnoxious problem.

Then, if I leave a render going or simply leave the app up and running over night, I’ll come back into work the next morning and suddenly my desktop backgrounds have been completely removed and replaced by a generic gray system background (as can be seen in the first image).

I’m at a loss. Has anyone experienced ANY of these things?

    are you running dual monitors?

I too am running CS6.0.1, though not on the Cloud. But today I started getting weird display issues in the timeline scrolling up and down (i.e. to view audio tracks on lower tracks). It’s like it wouldn’t refresh. I quit, restarted… still back.

This is in addition to the frequent ‘serious errors’ I get on average 1-2 times a day.

Yes, I am running dual monitors. However, the cut off start up screens and editing windows that I have described are occurring on the right hand side of my right monitor. My smaller monitor to the left isn’t affected. I also have a preview monitor to the right of my main working monitor hooked up via HDMI out of my Decklink HD Extreme card, but I do not have the signal activated at this time.

I would try updating or reverting back one version of the Decklink Driver.

I had some really terrible experience with one of those versions.

I’ve done absolutely nothing different, and yet the problem has stopped occurring. I think what it really comes down to is that this software is just full of stability issues and bugs. Here today, gone tomorrow, there again the next day. This software makes me quite nervous to use in front of a client.

Anyone have any news of the next release, or know of any good resources for PP news? It seems that there were countless FCP community resources out there.

Thanks for all the feedback so far.

If anyone has news of the next release they will not say due to non disclosure contracts.

If folks says they know details about the next release, chances are they dont know what the heck they are talking about 😀

It’s really an issue with all these apps not using the new Cocoa Library. I wouldn’t think that this will happen on Windows though.
The whole GUI is normally handled with OpenCL engine but both Avid and Premiere use ; in case of Avid , they use Nokia’s QT Framework for their development, and Premiere has custom Adobe cross platform library.
And you have a recipe for a lot of troubles 🙂

The other way being the apple closed shop way of using their cocoa which is 100% accelerated by OPen Cl , which they started using with their new FCP X, and threw away the old code of FCP Pro, but since they are starting from scratch.. it will take a while to get decent product.
