  PP CS4 Transcode fails with Dynamic Link

  I am using a HDV 1080-60i (1440×1080)29.97 clip with no editing on the timeline in PP CS4 which I “Send to Encore” with Dynamic Link. I open Encore and set the project to DVD with the default settings. The clip is imported into Encore and I select transcode now and use the default settings. Transcode starts and runs for a few seconds and then posts the error message “Encode failed”. If I try to build a DVD I get the same results. I have tried the Dynamic link from Encore using “Import Premiere Pro Sequence” with the same results. However, if I import the HDV clip directly into Encore the transcode works fine – no errors and transcode completes successfully. If I set the Encore Project to Blu Ray instead of DVD (no down convert) transcode does not fail. Looks like a bug.
