I just reinstalled CS 6 in my new computer but when I try to open an old project it says it needs to convert to the newer version even though it is the same program from before. If I say ok it only shows a black screen during playback although I can hear the audio just fine. This happens in the browser and both preview and program monitors. All updates for CS 6 are installed. What should I do?

Perhaps the previous Premiere installation was not up to date, and therefore the prior project does need updating to the “new” software?

In any case, let Premiere update the project – it doesn’t hurt the original, just makes a copy. Then do SAVE AS to save the new version.

    Thanks

Ok, but that does not fix the black screen during playback. The clips play fine with Quicktime or VLC

If you create a NEW project, drop in a clip, play, same issue?

Want to determine if something is wrong with old project, or if there’s some overall issue with using CS6 on the new Windows 10 machine in general.

    Thanks

New projects are the same. Using a Acer Predator 15 laptop.

Problem solved. It was an out of date video driver. Thanks for the advice.
