Powering the Zoom H4n over USB
Hi there,
Has anyone out there tried powering the H4n with a USB battery? This guy found a setup that goes through the ac adapter cable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6YtYb3TtPw
The only question mark for me is will the H4n still be able to use phantom power with a usb battery. Any ideas? Thank you!

I imagine that you could, but the battery life will probably be reduced with phantom power engaged.

USB is a communication protocol. One part of it provides for modest power to trickle recharge low current batteries, but I’ve never heard of anyone using USB as a continuous power source. And that’s precisely what phantom power requires – a continuous power source.
Maybe it’s not impossible, only an electrical engineer could tell you that for sure, but I wouldn’t spend any time pursuing it.My 2 cents.

It Actually very simple to do – The H4n and most of the ZOOM products use a 5V input at around 2AMP. Which is what most powerbanks pump out. All you need is the right mini jack power adaptor jack and you can make it yourself. Just make sure that connect centre positive on the jack
