    Hi there,

I’m not sure whether I’m the only one who has this problem, I’ve had a look round the forum for a similar case but haven’t really found anything that fits the symptoms. Hopefully it’s not a case of rtfm as I went through it page by page when first starting to use resolve.

I grade mostly HD material, however our current setup has an SD broadcast monitor in the room so I’ve been taking advantage of Resolve’s ability to chop and change between resolutions for grading and rendering. On my current project I’ve got a healthy amount of power windows in various nodes though-out the spot. I set up the windows and any qualifiers needed in the grade, all works fine and plays back in real time as it’s only sd. However, when it comes time to render and I switch the res back to HD 1920×1080, all of the windows stay ‘small’ as they would be for the sd picture- for example leaving me with a square of graded sky inside a surrounding of ungraded material as the window isn’t big enough for the image.

Have I just misunderstood or is the window supposed to scale to the appropriate size when switching resolution? The footage in question is pro-res 444 Alexa material, which is being graded at sd and rendered pro-res 444 back at HD again.

I use Resolve Lite 8.2 but noticed the same issue in 8.1.1. Brand new mac pro, Lion 10.7.1 (haven’t gone to 10.7.2 yet as i’ve got Media Composer 5.5.3, Resolve and FCP working in harmony on this version). It’s just the standard fit Radeon HD 5770 with no other GPU. I have a Blackmagic Extreme HD 2 (unsupported I know, but I’m hoping not the cause of the issue).

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. At the moment I’m having to scan through every node of every grade to ensure all position/size/track data is correctly placed before render.

There may be some confusion between what the native resolution of the project is, and what you wanted the display resolution to be….

I am having the same issue on a Linux based system, version 8.1.We use a shared database and I can tell you the the same issue occurs when I open the project on another resolve. As above I am monitoring in SD and find I need to resize the project to be able to see a correct image on my SD broadcast monitor. It seems to me like Resolve is not designed to switch between project size in this way, however I have found no other way to monitor a HD project in SD with my workflow.

    Hi,

I just checked this here or 8.2 beta and it seems to work for me.

    This is what I did.

    1. Setup a project at HD, use a Circular Windows, and apply a grade.
    2. Go back to Config page, change the resolution to PAL
    3. Come back to Color page, the window is correctly resized, and still effects the same part of the picture

    Regards,
    Rohit

Did you end up finding a solution to this? I have tested it a few times now and i still have the same problem. It only happens when grading HD footage with in SD project. The mismatch occurs when I switch the project back to HD size so I can render out.
