Power loss equals footage loss!
Today I was shooting with our HVX-200. We were 8 minutes into a 13 minute segment when all of a sudden we lost power to the camera. (We think the power loss was due to a faulty extension cord but that’s not the issue here.)
When power was restored we realized that the entire 8 minute clip was lost! When looking at the contents of the P2 card, what would have normally been a thumbnail was a gray square with an ‘X’ on it.
Does anyone know of a way to salvage the clip? (Wish I had shot to tape.)
We had to break it to the client that we had to start over again from the beginning 🙁

Check the card in a computer- it’s supposed to be there always. Also- I suggest always running off battery even when in the studio for this reason.

You haven’t lost anything. Just select that clip, go into the menus and choose “repair clip”. It’ll restore all the footage, with the possible exception of the last second or two.

Thanks for the info. I’ll give that a try should I run into this problem again.
